Fassoni are typically used in traditional lake fishing in the Sinis area - Santa Giusta. These boats are made with bunches of lake hay latched together with cords made of reeds to create a flat sailing vessel about 4 m long and 1 m wide with a pointed bow and a truncated stern. Fassoni recall the antique Egyptian papyrus boats and are currently still used in only two places in the world: on the lakes of Santa Giusta and Cabras in Sardinia and Lake Titicaca in Peru. Every year, at the end of August, the lake fishermen take part in a traditional regatta to safeguard local tradition and promote the development of tourism in the area.
