Coiled structure in basketmaking – San Vero Milis

Twisted stitch

Material: a bundle of sea hay or reeds, dried and rehydrated.

Stitch: puntu an imbodigadura with a metal punch to draw the fibers around the coil wrapping and tightening them onto the previous coil with two or three lacing stitches that can determine a radial or simple seam.

The fixed stitch technique and nomenclature does not differ from that of other parts of the Island where this technique is used. The fibers used are sea hay, reeds or wheat culms.
